Prior to enrolling in Neto’s jujitsu Academy I was plagued
with the everyday stress of life. I would come home on
daily basis with my eyes sunken in and not in my stomach
from the stress is of being an entrepreneur and working 50
to 60 hours a week. I joined the Academy on a whim not
thinking that I would like it nor would be enrolled for more
than a month or two. To my surprise I thoroughly enjoy the
classes. Master Neto's curriculum gave me an outlet to leave
work at work and to come home in a mellow temper and relaxed
attitude. The
atmosphere master
Neto has created is kick back and supportive to one
another. There's no politics no BS no pressures and most
importantly no one is meant to feel degraded for making a
mistake; there is only positive reinforcement from master
Neto and the students attending. I would highly recommend this
class to anyone interested in any martial art!

I received a phone call
in the middle of the night saying we had located a suspect. We
staked out the hotel, pinpointed the room, and got the door
open. I was the first man to go in the room. The suspect
turned from the window, ran past me, and tried to swing at our
lead bounty hunter as he was blocking the door; I reacted
immediately. As he attempted to swing with his left arm, I came
under his arm and over his right shoulder. I pivoted my hips
and threw the suspect over my body. He landed on his head and
cut his eyebrow. He tried to get up so I immediately took his
back. I told him to give up, but he continued to struggle. I
proceeded with a rear naked choke and squeezed very hard. He
began to wheeze, begged to be released, flattened out, and
stopped struggling. I released the choke and completed the
arrest. Thanks to Master Neto and his curriculum I was able to
use Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the real world and defend my
colleagues on the job.

With many years experience
in Law Enforcement and weightlifting/powerlifting, I thought my
strength and confidence were at their peak. In less than one
year at Neto Jiu Jitsu, I am in the best shape of my life. I am
stronger both mentally and physically and my new confidence is
noticed by myself and the people I work with and meet everyday.
Neto Jiu Jitsu's teaching technique and class atmosphere have
taught me the best self-defense in a learning environment for
everyone. The people I have met at Neto Jiu Jitsu are closer
than friends, they are like a second family.

I have
trained in the martial arts for almost 20 years and am always
questioning knowledge to better myself. Like many, I was
skeptical when BJJ made the scene. Skeptical yet curious, I was
fortunate to start attending Neto Jiu Jitsu where I learned the
best self-defense out of the 20 years I've trained in other
martial arts. The atmosphere in the academy is one of mutual
respect which allows egos to be checked at the door.
Consequently, the mat time is spent qualitatively. Jiu- Jitsu is
like a chess match, you need stamina, strength, serenity and
wisdom to undertake this discipline. Those qualities transfer
nicely to everyday life. I always liked those Ads which would
promise you could fend off any attacker. I don't worry about
that. I'm usually to tired after training to do anything more
than go home.

I joined the academy one month ago with
only high school wrestling experience. Besides already trimming
10 lbs. and feeling way more physically fit, I've been able to
reconnect with that grappler identity I left behind years ago.
My main concern coming in was safety. I was worried I might get
seriously injured by larger, aggressive, and more experienced
guys. Jiu Jitsu is tough, but I was glad to find that Odie keeps
the classes well controlled. It's more like a team. I can go at
my own pace, and I can stop anytime I want. My body is slowly
becoming conditioned to the rigorous training. There is
tremendous respect in the room for the instructor who is both
challenging and encouraging, both champion and gifted teacher.
In a short time I've learned a lot about my strengths and
weaknesses, but most of all that Jiu Jitsu opens up an entire
world of discovery about the art of self-defense, and about
myself.

I have had the continued
privilege of training under Odie Neto at Neto Jiu Jitsu for over
a year. In that time, Neto Jiu Jitsu has provided me with the
tools to build greater self-confidence, develop stronger
physical conditioning, and develop a sense of
self-accomplishment.
Odie motivates his students by encouraging them to set goals for
themselves and he is there to help each student meet those
goals. Odie provides a positive learning environment where his
students can learn at their own pace or challenge themselves at
every training session. Odie’s enthusiasm for Jiu Jitsu and
teaching are shared at every training session. This enthusiasm
is evident when he explains techniques patiently, with his
positive feedback or when he simply exclaims “Yes!” when a
student successfully executes as technique. I look forward to
continually train under Odie’s guidance to tap into his
knowledge and expertise of Jiu Jitsu.

Neto Niu-Jitsu provides
many classes to choose from making every night of the week
accessible. The school is full of hard working individuals, both
students and instructors, who make it easy to push yourself to
become your best. Odie Is present at nearly all classes for
personal attention. The school is large, spacious, well lit and
ventilated. The school attracts good people. The Dojo is also
centrally located near the 8 and 15 junction.

I came to Odie Neto several years ago, in
my early 30's, suffering from arthritis and fibromyalgia.
Doing anything physically strenuous was a challenge. Odie
worked personally with me and gave me encouragement to do as
much as I can. Now 3 years later I feel the best I've felt in
8 years and I'm in the best shape of my life physically.
Another benefit is my new found confidence to tackle
anything. When you train with Odie, it's more than
mentor/student, it's a friend for life. For that I will
always be thankful!
